Highland Group Awarded Education Projects to Benefit Alabama Students

The Highland Group, a real estate development and commercial construction firm, has been awarded two separate projects in the education industry that will benefit students throughout Alabama.

“As a by-product of the North Alabama school system, it’s really exciting to work on projects that will benefit the same school system that started my education. It’s also great to work for a team that values education as much as The Highland Group does,” said Michael Barnes, Project Manager at The Highland Group.

The Lawrence County Board of Education awarded The Highland Group a contract to build three new athletic facilities that will be used for sports training. The three new facilities will be located at Hatton High School in Town Creek, East Lawrence High School in Trinity and Lawrence County High School in Moulton. The Highland Group will be teaming up with Volkert who will serve as construction manager on the project and McKee & Associates as architect.

The Highland Group was also awarded a contract for renovations at Calhoun Community College, which is the largest of the two-year institutions compromising The Alabama Community College System. Calhoun is an open-admission, community-based, state-supported, comprehensive community college dedicated to providing affordable, high-quality and accessible education to individuals in its four-county service area.
